The 6:30 p.m. concert on Aug. 8 features selections from the band’s varied repertoire of traditional classics, patriotic marches and newer music intended to entertain audiences of all ages.
For nearly a century, Marine Band San Diego has delighted thousands throughout the country with its inspiring renditions of patriotic music, classical standards, Big Band, Top 40, and, of course, the marches of John Philip Sousa.
The band’s mission is to provide musical support for military and civic ceremonies. In addition, members of the band perform in several different ensembles: concert band, marching band, brass quintet, woodwind quintet, jazz combo, rock band, and brass band.
The 50-member band performs at over 350 appearances each year.
