A new exhibition of multi-media, interactive works by local and international artists has opened at the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park.
“Rising Tide” features artwork by Francisco Eme, Jacob Sundstrom and Jana Brike that create immersive environments evoking stillness and space for contemplation.
The artwork leverages computer technology, interdisciplinary techniques, sound and surrealistic imagery.
The exhibition reflects the ideals behind the 75-year-old institute’s new collaboration with the Qualcomm Institute at UC San Diego.
In conjunction with the innovative exhibition, French composer Erik Satie‘s “Vexations,” an experimental 18-24 hour piano concert, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. and continue until Sunday at 5 p.m.
The institute’s gallery in the House of Charm is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
“Rising Tide” runs through Jan 6.
