The Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park is turning back the clock to its opening day in 1983 and inviting the public to cover the museum walls with their own photos.

The museum is recreating its opening event on Aug. 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the walls laid bare for visitors to attach their photography with push pins.

“Our walls are yours — and you’re the exhibiting artist,” the museum said.

The reboot of the institution’s opening celebration will feature a live DJ, hard kombucha pours by Boochcraft and local art vendors.

No RSVP is required for the “Push Pin Party” and guests are invited to pay what they wish for admission.
