The La Jolla Music Society announced Tuesday the appointment of Florida opera executive Susan T. Danis as the society’s new president and CEO.

Danis, CEO of the Florida Grand Opera in Miami, succeeds Kristin Lancino , who resigned in January after two years in the position.

“With the opening of The Conrad just around the corner, this is a very exciting time for our organization,” said Katherine Chapin, chair of the music society’s board.  “We are confident that Susan is the right person to build on our strong foundation and lead us into a dynamic future.“

Danis has over 30 years of arts administration experience, including 13 years as executive director of the Sarasota Opera, and eight years with what is now Opera Saratoga in New York state.

“Becoming the president and CEO of La Jolla Music Society and leading one of Southern California’s most prestigious performing arts organizations is the fulfillment of a lifelong goal,” said Danis. “I am truly honored to be a part of the opening of The Conrad, and to work with the new SummerFest music director, Inon Barnatan.”

The society will open its new concert hall, The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, next April in downtown La Jolla,
