The lavish estate is set to sell to the highest bidder at auction on Jan. 31 through leading globalauction firm Concierge Auctions.
Located at 252 Ridge Road in the Mesa neighborhood of Palm Springs, the 70-plus-acre estate – owned by Somers and her producer husband, Alan Hamel – includes five French country style villas built on four levels, all accessible by funicular, private roads and stone pathways.
Comprised of about 7,300 square feet, the compound features a total of eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The main residence contains a two-room kitchen, a hidden 5,000-bottle wine cellar, a formal dining room that seats 32 guests, and a living room that opens onto the rock-lined swimming pool.
Additionally, the rock house, designed by famed architect Albert Frey, sits above the main residence against the mountainside and includes a large two-room suite; fireplace; Balinese garden doors; claw-foot tub; rock shower; and meditation garden.
Outside, the property offers 10 outdoor living spaces including numerous fireplaces and fire pits, outdoor decks and entertainment pavilions; an outdoor living room; outdoor dining room; and outdoor amphitheater carved from rock.
Previously listed for $14.5 million, the property will sell without reserve in cooperation with Scott Lyle of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
