The Moonlight Stage in Vista is planning the most diverse summer season in its history, with musical productions ranging from a rock version of “Aida” to the regional premiere of Andrew Lloyd Weber‘s “Sunset Boulevard.”
The 37th season at the outdoor Moonlight Amphitheatre begins June 14 with “Aida” and extends through Sept. 30.
Steven Glaudini, producing artistic director of Moonlight Stage Productions, describes the lineup of four musicals as the “most diverse season ever produced” at the Moonlight:
- “Aida” — A rock version of the famous Verdi opera with music by Elton John. June 14 – July 1.
- “The Little Mermaid” — A production based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale and the Disney film with music by Alan Menken. July 19 – Aug. 5.
- “Sunset Boulevard” — A classic Hollywood tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Aug. 16 – Sept. 2.
- “In the Heights” — From Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the current Broadway hit “Hamilton,” this musical tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. Sept. 13 – 30.
Tickets are available at 760-724-2110 or on moonlightstage.com.
The Moonlight Amphitheater is located at 1200 Vale Terrace Drive in Vista. Gates open for picnicking and dining 90 minutes before curtain.
