It’s the last weekend of 2016 so you’ll want to make it your best weekend yet. Luckily, there’s plenty of things to do and see in San Diego County as you wrap up the year and welcome 2017.

Start the new year right with a fun 5K run. The Pop Run takes participants on a 5K race through downtown.

The race is complete with hot tunes and lights and lasers. The race kicks off at 6 p.m. with music played through 9 p.m. Sunday.

Entry to the race is $50 per person but is currently on sale for $29 on Groupon. Or you can buy two tickets for $58 or four tickets for $116.

Here are some other events happening this weekend.

The San Diego International Auto Show is back in town. The show, which runs Thursday through Monday, is the second largest auto show in California. The popular show features more than 400 cars from 40 manufacturers. Participants can expect to see new models, test drive cars and enjoy family-friendly activities. Tickets are $8 for children, $12 for adults and $9 for seniors and service members.

New Year’s Day Brunch

Celebrate the new year with a delicious brunch at one of San Diego County’s many eateries. Quad AleHouse and Gaslamp Tavern will offer bottomless mimosas with any brunch entree for $15. Entree options include bacon apple fritters and an Old Hickory benedict made with poached eggs and pulled pork.

Or hop onto a ship for a brunch cruise. Hornblower is hosting a brunch buffet on New Year’s Day with free-flowing champagne and cider. The two-hour cruise takes guests on a narrated tour of San Diego. The cost is $67.95 per person.

Other top options for San Diego brunches include Breakfast Republic, Snooze and the Mess Hall.
