A fundraising executive who has led development campaigns at UC San Diego and Scripps Research Institute is joining National University to lead that school’s development efforts.
William Burfitt will be vice president of development, a new position at the private, nonprofit university headquartered in San Diego.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Burfitt to National University where his talent and expertise in philanthropic outreach efforts will allow us to expand our collaborations with those who share our dedication to supporting the success of adult learners,” said National University President Dr. David Andrews.
Burfitt was most recently executive director of development at UC San Diego’s Jacobs School of Engineering, where he supervised a team that raised $20 million annually.
“This is an exciting opportunity to build on the university’s outreach efforts and advance development strategies and approaches that will have meaningful impacts for this significant student population,” Burfitt said.
