Authorities released the name of a San Ysidro woman found dead in her home this week under suspicious circumstances Friday.

Patrol officers and ambulance personnel responding to an emergency call found Devone Patton, 24, on the living-room floor of her townhouse in the 2000 block of Bluehaven Court at about 8:15 a.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police.

Medics tried in vain to revive Patton before pronouncing her dead at the scene. Due to the circumstances of the fatality, homicide detectives took over the case, SDPD Lt. Mike Holden said. The lieutenant declined to elaborate, citing concerns about compromising the investigation.

A ruling on the cause and manner of Patton’s death remained on hold Friday afternoon pending completion of postmortem tests.

Those results could take weeks to obtain, the lieutenant said. Patton lived with her boyfriend and her two children, ages 5 and 2. At the time of her death, several friends also were staying at her residence just west of Interstate 5 and Dairy Mart Road, according to Holden.

There were no signs of forced entry at the townhouse, he said.
